Dr. Jou-juo Chu (Ph.D., Oxford University, 1992) is a professor of sociology at National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan. She has published numerous academic books, journal articles and book chapters. Her books include Globalization and Taiwanese Society: Human Rights, Law and Sociological Perspectives (Taipei: Sanmin, 2007), Challenges and Prospects of Southern Taiwan¡¯s Sustainable Development (Taipei: Hanlu, 2005), Taiwan at the End of the Twentieth Century: The Gains and Losses (Taipei: Tonsan, 2001), Labor Issues in a Changing World (Taipei: Yangzhi, 1998), and Cross-national Analysis of Political Development and Unionism (Taipei: Huatai, 1995). Her articles have been in the fields of globalization, sustainable development and sociology of labor and appeared in journals such as The Journal of Contemporary Asia, The China Quarterly, and The Journal of Asian and African Studies.
